On March 17, 2023, a rumored thief was apparently slain in Winneba, in the Central Region.
The victim, a well-known robber in the neighborhood, was killed and his body was thrown by the side of the road in front of the International Central Gospel Church in Winneba, according to a UTV news report.
According to the article, locals had heard the victim call out for assistance at first light but were unable to explain what had caused him to be lynched.
They didn’t realize the victim was the thief who had been caught stealing in the neighborhood multiple times until the next morning.
Residents claim that the alleged thief has been caught stealing on multiple occasions, but each time he is turned over to the police, he is quickly released.
They claimed that the alleged burglar had been robbing market vendors and breaking into local residences and businesses.
On the incident, the Ghana Police Service has not yet issued a statement.
